"APFORGIS – Establishing an information system for Asian tree species and their genetic resources" was a regional initiative implemented in Asian countries from December 2017 to November 2019. Through this initiative, distribution and threat maps were developed for 65 native Asian tree species, with data contributed by more than 40 organisations and species experts. The initiative was coordinated by Bioversity International and implemented in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Forest Genetic Resources Programme (APFORGEN). The initiative was funded by the German Government through the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Read more.

The initiative "Conserving Rosewood genetic resources for resilient livelihoods in Greater Mekong" (2018-2021) was designed to help safeguard the genetic resources of three Asian Dalbergia species of high conservation concern (Dalbergia cochinchinensis, D. cultrata, and D. oliveri) in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam. The initiative developed a regional conservation assessment of the target species and capacities for conservation and restoration actions on the ground. The initiative is implemented with forestry authorities and research organisations from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, Vietnam, China, UK and Denmark and funded by the UK Darwin Initiative. Read more.
